Caterina Giorgi, CEO of FARE

Caterina Giorgi

Caterina is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction as FARE works towards creating an Australia free from alcohol harm.  

She is passionate about working with local communities, governments, researchers and health professionals to develop evidence-informed policy, enable people-powered advocacy, and deliver health promotion programs. 

Before joining FARE as CEO, Caterina founded and led For Purpose, a national organisation working with other not-for-profit and purpose-driven organisations to build their strategic, advocacy and communications capacity to create positive social change. She also worked previously at FARE, leading the Policy and Research Team. 

Caterina has presented at national and international conferences and has delivered training and workshops on strategy, advocacy, public health and public policy. In 2015, she was a finalist for ACT Young Woman of the Year Awards. 

Caterina has an honours degree in public health and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ayla Chorley

Operations Director & Company Secretary

Ayla is responsible for leading the Governance, Finance, Risk and HR functions at FARE. She works with the Leadership Team toward organisational sustainability, making sure that FARE has a long-lasting impact. She also ensures that FARE staff members are supported and have everything they need to be successful at their jobs to create an Australia free from alcohol harm.

For Ayla, work that is impactful and meaningful is core to everything she does.

Ayla has held several senior operations roles across the not-for-profit and corporate sectors. She brings around a decade of experience as a purpose-driven leader in organisational design, people and culture, and HR strategy. She is currently pursuing a degree in medical science from the University of Adelaide.

Karen Benedict
Financial Controller

Karen is responsible for maintaining efficient strategies and processes for the delivery of financial operations, such as financial reports, budgets, audits and compliance with statutory obligations.

The most rewarding part of the role is to know that her work contributes to helping people overcome adverse situations in their lives. 

Karen is a member of the CPA Australia and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) UK. She graduated with a Master of Business Administration and has over 15 years of experience in the international development aid sector.

Liam Hoang
Senior Finance Officer

Liam works closely with the Financial Controller to maintain FARE’s financial records. 

For Liam, supporting the team to reach the bigger goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle is the most rewarding part of the role. 

Liam is a member of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Australia. He graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting at Charles Darwin University and a Bachelor of Finance at the University of Toulon, France. 

Gabrielle Kuta
Office Coordinator

Gabrielle is responsible for Executive Assistance to the CEO, office management, governance and HR. 

For Gabrielle, supporting the team as they work to prevent alcohol harm in Australia is the most rewarding part of the role. 

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Classical Studies from the Australian National University in Canberra.

Jane Shirley

Jane develops and implements communications strategies that support FARE’s campaigns and projects, and stakeholder and community engagement.  

Jane’s work in not-for-profit organisations has offered the opportunity to combine her love of words with her interests in social justice, equality and equity. As well as planning and strategy, one of her favourite aspects of communications is using storytelling to improve understanding and authenticity, build empathy, shift power and voice to the community, and inspire change.  

Jane has worked in professional writing, communications and editing roles across the not-for-profit, higher education and private sectors since 2003. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Professional Writing and Communication) from the University of South Australia, and a Graduate Certificate in Editing and Publishing from the University of Southern Queensland.

Dana Daniel
Senior Media Advisor

Dana is responsible for planning, creating and delivering effective proactive and reactive media advice to support FARE’s work towards an Australia free from alcohol harm. 

She is passionate about using storytelling and strategic communications to achieve positive social change and knows the power of the media to shape public opinion and political decision-making, especially when used to amplify community voices.  

Before joining FARE, Dana worked as a journalist for more than a decade, most recently in the federal parliamentary press gallery where she reported on health and politics for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. She won two Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards and her work appeared in The Best Australian Science Writing anthology published by UNSW Press. Dana holds a Bachelor of Arts with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Macquarie University and a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the University of Technology Sydney. 

Steven Rummukainen
Graphic Designer

Steven is responsible for graphic design and multimedia content creation, website development, videography, photography and producing publications and other print collateral. 

For Steven, creating design solutions that have the power to create positive change in our world is the most rewarding part of his role. 

He graduated with a Bachelor of Media Arts and Production, majoring in Graphic Design, from the University of Canberra. 

Keisha Miller 
Digital Content Producer

Keisha is responsible for building awareness and engagement of our work on social media and supports the implementation and execution of campaigns and promotions. 

For Keisha, creating and sharing stories that positively impact people’s lives is the most rewarding part of the role. She believes that storytelling is a powerful tool and enjoys the challenge of trying different ways of telling stories to convey important messages. 

Before joining FARE, Keisha worked in the community development space supporting First Nations communities by telling their stories of impact and achievements across digital platforms. She has a Diploma of Journalism and has studied media, communications, and digital storytelling. 

Policy and Research

Dr Aimee Brownbill

Acting Policy and Research director

Aimee is responsible for researching and advising on alcohol policy. She is currently leading a portfolio of work on digital marketing by harmful industries such as alcohol, gambling and highly processed unhealthy foods, exploring potential avenues for regulation in this space. 

For Aimee, working at the intersection of research, policy and advocacy is the most rewarding part of the role. 

Aimee has a PhD in Public Health from The University of Adelaide. In her previous roles, she has contributed to collaborative applied public health research projects in the fields of unhealthy food and sugar-sweetened beverages, alcohol, and tobacco control.

Melanie is responsible for leading the development and implementation of FARE’s policy work and research agenda.

Policy Manager

Rodney is responsible for analysing, developing, and advocating policy. 

His passion is in researching, modelling, and communicating systemic policy drivers of positive social change, especially for social justice outcomes like preventing harm from alcohol. 

Before joining FARE, Rodney worked in public policy and in the social services sector, including AOD services, child and family support, and social housing. He has a Master of Politics and Policy from Deakin University.

Daweena Motwany
Policy and Research Advisor

Daweena is responsible for developing in-depth analysis of alcohol harms, creating campaign strategies to reduce such harms and liaising with stakeholders on nuanced research.  

She believes that being able to understand the issues affecting the community and the gaps in policy allows for more effective strategies to help people with varying levels of alcohol use.  

Daweena graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Politics, and a Master of International Affairs from the Australian National University. She has also undertaken courses in Negotiations and Influence with MIT Sloan and Security Governance and Conflict with the University of Amsterdam. 

Grace Orange
Community Engagement Advisor

Grace is responsible for monitoring and analysing recent research and data to inform FARE’s policy work. 

She believes the most effective way to help people is to ensure our systems prioritise health and wellbeing. Knowing that she is contributing to changes that improve people’s lives is the most rewarding part of her role. 

Prior to joining FARE, Grace worked in data analysis and governance in the Commonwealth public service. Grace holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from Monash University and is completing her Juris Doctor at RMIT.

PROJECTS AND PARTNERSHIPS DIRECTOR

Joanna is responsible for overseeing funding development, health promotion and partnerships for the organisation. 

She has led communication and engagement campaigns on issues such as alcohol harm prevention and achieving gender equality, brokered cross-sector partnerships to support women’s leadership, and developed business strategies to launch innovative affordable housing solutions. 

Joanna was recognised for her innovation, leadership, and impact in the community sector as a national finalist in the 2019 Third Sector Awards. She is a former Board Director of the Women’s Legal Centre ACT, YWCA Canberra and the Youth Coalition of the ACT. 

Joanna graduated with a Master of Strategic Communication from the University of Canberra, a Bachelor of Digital Media from the University of New South Wales, and a Certificate in Sustainable Business Strategy from the Harvard Business School.

Dianne Woods 
Health Promotion Manager

Dianne is responsible for managing and leading various health awareness programs at FARE.   

She believes the most rewarding part of her work is providing communities with resources that will support them in making informed choices that are best for themselves. She also feels fulfilled in standing with and advocating for people with lived experience who want to be heard. 

Dianne graduated with a Bachelor of Public Health from the University of Wollongong and Post Graduate Certificates in Health Promotion and Health Management & Policy from Curtin University. Prior to joining FARE, Dianne worked in drug and alcohol health promotion with Area Health Services for 15 years and managed a Neighbourhood Centre. She also currently teaches at TAFE. 

Rosemary White
Senior Project Advisor

Rosemary is responsible for working with stakeholders on the development and evaluation of Every Moment Matters 

For Rosemary, the integration of research, community engagement and stakeholder management to shape this nationwide campaign is the most rewarding part of her role.  

She has a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Science (Psychology), and Bachelor of Social Work. 

Susan Hickson
Senior Health Promotion Advisor

Susan works with a range of stakeholders to deliver projects, campaigns and resources that promote healthy behaviours. 

Health promotion to Susan is the art and science of helping people make healthy choices. This includes providing information in impactful ways, supporting people’s self-efficacy, and building environments that prioritise health over profits. 

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from Curtin University after a long career with NSW Health as a Health Information Manager.   

Claire Margan
Senior Health Promotion Advisor

Claire works with stakeholders on the development and implementation of Every Moment Matters. 

For Claire, working on health promotion programs that promote health equity, social justice and community empowerment is the most rewarding part of the role. 

She graduated with a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics from Griffith University on the Gold Coast. 

Carly Keene
Senior Health Promotion Advisor

Carly is responsible for playing an active role in the development, implementation and evaluation of FARE’s health promotion and behaviour change strategies and activities for Every Moment Matters. 

For Carly working in health promotion and public health is the most rewarding part of her role. 

She graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Newcastle University and a Master of Public Health from Flinders University. 

Marie Hobden
Senior Health Promotion Advisor

Marie is responsible for working with stakeholders on the development and implementation of health promotion and behaviour change strategies for Every Moment Matters.

For Marie making a meaningful impact by promoting healthy behaviour and lifestyle choices is the most rewarding part of the role. 

She is an Endorsed Midwife and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a Bachelor of Midwifery with honors from The University of Hull in the UK.
